This year we sent x5 of your Elected Student Officers to NUS National Conference.
Mahtab, Leah and Clo were voting and Alban and Shaun went along as spectators;
NUS Conference is where students up and down the country from Universities and Colleges all discuss issues that affect them and vote to make changes. It lasts for three days and the power to approve NUS’ budget, elect and hold the leadership into account and set policy for the year ahead.

This year is was in Liverpool, and was attended by thousands of Students across the UK.
It discusses, amends and approves policy reports from areas within the Zones. These “Zones” are;
Society & Citizenship
Higher Education
Further Education
Welfare
Union Development
It democratically debates motions put forward from students’ unions
It “ratifies” decisions made by Nations, Liberation and Social Policy campaigns – so these issues become “ours” not just “theirs”
It elects and appoint people to committees, boards; and student leadership positions (“officers”) It also acts as the NUS AGM (Annual General Meeting), receiving the annual report and accounts and approving the outline budget for the year ahead.
NUS works to promote equality and diversity through the four Liberation Campaigns, which are as follows:
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans (LGBT)
Black Students’
Disabled Students’
Women
