Food For Thought

Level 3 Media & Film
Amount awarded: £600

They hope to use the project to engage and educate the wider student community in order to:

1) To remove the assumed stigma of food banks

The students will be working closely with local food banks, interviewing staff, volunteers and service users about their experiences.

2) To raise awareness of the increased use of food banks

The students will be tapping into very current social problems by investigating why people have become increasingly dependent on food banks over the last few years.

3) To investigate the sustainability issues associated with food banks

In order to understand why we live in a world that has so many people living in food poverty, yet throw away so much perfectly health and edible food, the students have been invited to the Fare Share North West warehouse to interview staff and volunteers about the scale of food waste, and how this effects both people and the environment.

Keep your eyes peeled for updates from what the students in this project are getting up to via our BLOG!
